Consultation

A consultation includes a face-to-face meeting with Dr. Bayer to discuss your child’s current functioning and to offer guidance and recommendations for appropriate next steps. Dr. Bayer is also available to review previous testing and school reports to assist with educational planning.

Comprehensive Neuropsychological Evaluation

A neuropsychological evaluation can provide you with a comprehensive understanding of your child’s strengths and weaknesses in order to assist with educational planning.

Weekend appointments are available for testing so that your child is not required to be absent from school.

Evaluations vary depending on your child's needs and the referral question. However, typically  the assessment process includes the following:

  1. An initial parent interview in which parents meet with Dr. Bayer prior to the testing to discuss current concerns, as well as developmental history and relevant background information.
  2. Phone consultations with your child’s school providers and outside providers; School observation when necessary to observe your child in the classroom setting.
  3. Comprehensive testing which typically includes - although is not limited to - measures of cognitive and academic skills, language, attention and executive functioning, memory, visual-motor integration, processing speed, and social-emotional functioning.
  4. A parent feedback session in which parents meet with Dr. Bayer to discuss results, as well as recommendations.
  5. A child feedback session in which your child is presented with important information from the evaluation and strategies that can be used in the classroom.
  6. A final report will be provided following the feedback session. Abbreviated reports for school providers can also be created.
  7. Continued ongoing support is provided following the testing process. Dr. Bayer is available to attend school meetings and consult with providers to monitor a child's progress and ensure the implementation of recommendations.
